Vietnamese Woman Claims She Hasn't Sleep For More Than 11 Years

For 11 years, she only lay with her eyes closed at night.

A 36-year-old Vietnamese woman claims she has been battling insomnia for 11 years.

Tran Thi Luu works at a kindergarten in Quảng Ngãi. She went viral after the news that she had not slept for more than 11 years spread.

In a recent interview, Luu shared that her insomnia started with strange crying.

Tears just hold on in her eyes. When she tried to lie down and close her eyes, the tears still wouldn't flow.

When her mysterious crying was finally gone., her ability to fall asleep is also gone.

Despite her efforts, Luu still couldn't sleep again, as reported by Oddity Central.

Her eyes were tired, but her mind stayed fully awake.

For 11 years, she only lay with her eyes closed at night. She tried to relax while her husband and children fell asleep.

Tran Thi Luu said her story was not made up to attract attention.

She revealed she had dark circles around her eyes. Before the insomnia, her skin was fair.

Luu expressed her gratitude for her husband's support. Her husband regularly asked her to stay calm, close her eyes, and try to sleep.

But she still couldn't sleep. According to local media, Tran Thi Luu finally sought medical help.

Luu visited Quang Ngai Provincial Mental Hospital for a check-up. Doctors diagnosed her as suffering from severe insomnia.

They gave her medicine, but the side effect was hurtful leg pain. And maybe she could walk properly.

Luu continued with the treatment for several months.

But she stopped the treatment because of its cost and severe side effects.

A neighbor who lives next door confirmed Luu's condition. Her neighbors have known about Luu's insomnia since a decade ago.

Although Tran Thi Luu has accepted her condition, she has health problems.

She experienced chronic bone and stomach pain. This may be related to a long lack of sleep.

Luu still hopes that one day, she can sleep like normal people again.
