This was said by India's space agency spokesman, Sudhir Kumar.
He said it was from one of its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles (PSLV).
He said that after Australian Space Agency (ASA) said the object was likely part of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicles (PSLV).
According to UN Office for Outer Space Affairs, countries must return "foreign" space objects found on their territory to their owners.
