Lately, several Marvel Cinematic Universe films have received poor response in the audience.
One of them is the latest MCU movie entitled "The Marvels".
In fact, this film is called the lowest-grossing film in the MCU.
What happened?
"The Marvels" recorded the lowest opening week earnings in MCU history.
"The Marvels" made around US$47 million in the United States in its early release.
In fact, this is lower than the initial revenue prediction, which was to gross between US$75 million and US$80 million in the US.
In fact, in its second week of screening, the movie experienced a 78% drop in income.
This number is lower than the previous MCU movie, Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania which experienced a 68% drop in revenue.
Even though on the rating site Rotten Tomatoes, The Marvels got a pretty good review, namely 65% and received an audience review of 85%.
Even so, the movie is considered to be one of the MCU movies that has the quality of a flop on the big screen.
The movie's low revenue was allegedly due to the AFTRA SAG that hampered the movie's promotion.
In addition, many fans suspect that the strong feminist agenda in recent Marvel Cinematic Universe films is also influential.
