Streets in Portugal Were Flooded With Red Wine After a 2.2 Million Liter Tank Exploded
A video shows a flood of red wine flowing down a hill across a town of more than 2,000 people.
The streets in Levira, Portugal, yesterday were flooded with red wine.
Videos spreading online show a red flood rushing down a hill through the town.
The red wine turned everything in its path intored.
This incident happened after two tanks owned by a winery exploded.
It's spilling 2.2 million liters (nearly 600,000 gallons) of red wine into the small town.
The red wine spilled from the Levira Distillery could fill an Olympic swimming pool.
Local officials immediately issued an environmental alert, according to Straits Times.
Local media reported the Anadia Fire Department's success in containing the wine flood. They directed it into an open field.
Unfortunately, a basement in a home near the distillery was flooded with wine, as The New York Post reported.
Destilaria Levira formally apologized on Facebook on Monday.
They expressed deep guilt for the incident.
"Although this incident did not result in any injuries, we are profoundly concerned about the general damage caused in Levira."
They stated.
