Singapore's "Merlion" Statue Will Be Closed. What's Happening?
Recently, the Singapore's iconic statue is reportedly would be temporarily closed.
The Merlion is a famous statue and iconic symbol of Singapore.
This lion statue with a fish tail was built in 1964 and is located in Merlion Park, near the Marina Bay Sands resort.

What's going on?
As reported by CNA, The Merlion will be closed temporarily.
The iconic statue will be under construction after there are several major cracks on its body.
Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said that "The Merlion" will be repaired from September 25 to December 13, 2023.
Previously, it was rumored that it would only take two days to repair the statue.
However, now the repair of The Merlion is reportedly taking over 2 months.
"We ask for public understanding as the works and barricades may cause inconvenience during this period," STB said in their statement.
As there will be scaffolding around the statue, it cannot be used for photography.
