"Unfortunately, the challenges with communication are just a symptom of the disease Bruce faces.
While this is painful, it is a relief to finally have a clear diagnosis,"
wrote his wife, actress Emma Heming Willis, in a statement.
"My message is simple. When we are not looking after ourselves, we are no good to the people we love who we want to show up for and take care of." She shared this with her followers on Instagram.
"I'm still figuring things out, just like anyone else. I remind myself of this every day, keeping it at the forefront of my mind."
Emma Heming Willis said she had to make a "mindful effort" to live for herself, her two children, and for "Bruce, who doesn't want me to live any other way."
Since her husband's diagnosis, Heming has been a caregiver and a de facto spokesperson.
According to the LA Times, she also asked photographers and videographers to give her husband space and stop yelling at him when he's out in public.
